Choy Li Fut Poetry and Couplets

For Chan Heung’s picture, inside of the school, the following couplet is used as a sign of respect:

蔡李佛門源是始, 少林嫡派得真傳.

With regards to the art of  Choy Li Fut, Chan Heung is the founder;

He received the true martial arts,  from the root system of Shaolin

For the choy li fut altar, the following couplet is used:

英棍飛騰龍擺尾, 雄拳放出虎昂頭.

Graceful staff moving like the dragon swings the tail;

A Strong fist releasing out, like the tiger raising it’s head.

For the school front door:

拳出全憑身着力, 棍來需用眼精神.

Fists (kuen) strike out, depending on the body, and use of the correct power;

When a Staff (gwun) is coming,  you must watch carefully,  by using the energy of your eyes

Another one for the front door:

雄才定取文章事, 勝算還须武略通.

For the talent of the Hung’s people, you must learn from the scholar’s work;

To win (Sing), one must be good at the martial arts.

Choy Fook advice to Chan Heung’s poem

龍虎風雲會,
徒兒好自爲,
重光少林術,
世代毋相遺.

The dragon and tiger meet, as the wind, and the clouds.
My disciple, you must take good care of your future.
To revive the arts of Shaolin,
Don’t let the future generations forget about these teachings.
