7th Annual Plum Blossom “For Kids Only” Martial Arts Challenge

Plum Blossom Martial Arts Center will be hosting our 7th Annual “For Kids Only” Traditional Martial Arts Challenge on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Dakota Collegiate 661 Dakota St. All competitors must be 15 years & under in order to participate in this event. This event will commence at 10:00 am sharp. Participation in this tournament is by pre-registration only.

In order for our tournament to be a continued success and offer a positive experience for all the young competitors, we require many on-site volunteers. As in past years, the support of all Adult students, Parents and friends to help out as scorekeepers, time keepers, ring monitors, relay setup, and general site set-up/ clean up is imperative. Mr. David Jung, is the tournment Volunteer Coordinator. He will be contacting all Parents & Adult students in the near future to recruit and assign volunteer duties. We truly appreciate your ongoing support in helping us to make this tournament “THE” tournament of the year for all kids!

All Competitor Registration Forms must be returned by: Saturday, May 9, 2008.

This tournament, as in previous years will consist of both individual and team traditional forms (kata), weapons and sparring divisions, complete with division breakdowns with respect to age, height, weight, and belt ranking. This ensures a fair and level playing field for all young competitors. Sparring guidelines;

· Controlled LIGHT contact.
· 2 minutes continuous time.
· 1 point for kicks or punches.
· Sparring Safety Equipment is mandatory.

The goal of this ongoing successful tournament format is to provide a supportive, friendly & positive environment. Our aim is to build unity and camaraderie amongst the young martial artists in attendance. This shines through, to provide our future leaders with a deepened respect and understanding of their arts. By popular demand, we will also be holding the fun and exiting “Team Megathalon” obstacle race for a chance to win the title plaque for our school. DiSihing Kelvin & Sihing Nelson will be holding “Team Awesome” tryouts starting April 2, 2009. If your child is interested in participating please be sure to put their name on their list.

Thank you in advance for the dedication and professionalism of the assistant instructors & Parents that have helped to make this event possible. We would like to wish all our students and fellow competitors good fortune in this upcoming event.

Best regards;

Tai Sifu Neil McRitchie & Sifu Peggy McRitchie
